Hello! I’m Immawan Akmal Sadad Wailissa, S.S., fondly called Mr. Akmal. Bachelor of Javanese Literature at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. I joined SD IISS Malang at the end of 2021, to be precise in December, as a Javanese Subject teacher. Joining SD IISS Malang opened my eyes to the education which is very important for each generation. I understand more and more that the current generation really needs to understand the roots of where they come from. So that when they face the world in the globalization era, they will still practice their identity as Indonesians who hold their noble character, manners, and tata krama. Initially, learning and teaching linguistics, literature, and culture, especially Javanese, was something strange to me personally, considering my background. I was born in Ambon on February 19, 1998. Since I was little, I have grown up in a neighborhood where the majority of people use Javanese as their mother tongue as well as their language for daily communication. This background made me feel that I didn’t understand the cultural aspects in the place where I grew up. Starting from taking an education that required me to learn "Java" as a whole and experiences that made me grow. Gradually I realized that education, especially the Javanese language that I went through, was so important as one of the basics for future generations. I think that joining SD IISS is an opportunity as well as a good effort to set up the basics to participate and be useful to realize the hope of each generation in a sustainable manner, ready to follow the development of the era but also not forgetting their roots.
