Flag Ceremony Post Covid 19 Pandemic
Monday’s flag ceremony is a routine activity that is always carried out by every school from elementary to high levels in Indonesia. This was done on the basis of gratitude for the independence that had been obtained after so long being colonized by other nations. Through the flag ceremony on Monday, every student and teacher is touched again and fostered a sense of upholding the independence that was previously obtained by fighting with body and soul.
On August 8, 2022 the flag ceremony was held for the first time after the Covid 19 Pandemic. Mr. Andri Nugroho who was appointed as the person in charge of the ceremony by the IISS Elementary School Principal had conducted the selection of officers and training for the previous two weeks. With the approval of the Principal, all of the ceremonial officers are IISS Elementary School teachers, except for the reading officer of the 1945 Constitution, namely Ananda Najla who is a 5th grade student of IISS Elementary School. This is done so that there are representatives from students to become ceremonial officers and it is hoped that it can be a motivation for other students to subsequently become ceremonial officers.
Miss Rika Dwi Damajanti, who was the Ceremony Supervisor at that time, conveyed two important things. It is gratitude for the re-implementation of the flag ceremony on Monday and the discipline of students and teachers. He expressed his gratitude and high appreciation to all teachers and students who had worked together to restart the flag ceremony. He also recounted a little about the history of the struggle of the heroes to reclaim the independence of the Indonesian nation from the hands of the invaders and invited all participants to always be serious and respectful when attending the ceremony as a form of respect for the ancestors who had fought.
Next, Miss Rika explained how important it is for teachers and students to have high discipline. One of them is to form habits that can be a provision in achieving goals in life. “Without discipline, something that is fought for will be difficult to obtain,” he said in his presentation. He invited all teachers to set an example for students to be disciplined in various ways. Not to forget he also motivates all students to be disciplined if they want to become children who are good at learning and have success in the future.
As is normal, everything that hasn’t been done for a long time, the officers still feel awkward because it’s the first time carrying out the flag ceremony after a long time there is no flag ceremony activity on Monday, however from the beginning to the end the flag ceremony activity went well and smoothly and there were several teachers who was very moved by the holding of the flag ceremony again. All of this is inseparable from a high sense of love for the Indonesian nation, which is our homeland. May we all never forget the services of the heroes and never give up continuing to defend the independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
