We held an open house on March 26, 2022. Open House is an event held by an institution, one of which is a school, where the door is open to the public so that people can see and learn about it. The Open House is also carried out with the aim of increasing public knowledge and awareness, such as parents and the new students. Although IISS Elementary School has been established for more than 10 years, our school still conducts an Open House event with the main purpose of introducing the developments that our school has and introducing our school to the public. Here are the following agenda of the IISS Open House activities such as Circle Time, Mini school tour, Trial class, Parents’ briefing, and Mini-games.
Circle Time is an activity that takes children before entering the core activity. In Circle Time, the children sing and move based on the rhythm, then continue praying together, greeting, and telling stories (Sharing) related to each child’s experience.
Mini School Tour is an activity to go around the school, children and parents are invited to go around and see the school. Starting from the introduction of classrooms, IT rooms, libraries, pantry, toilets, teachers’ room, IISS hall, storage room, and prayer room.
A trial class is an experimental class that is carried out to determine the ability and readiness of prospective students to know the culture or learning atmosphere provided by the teacher, as well as the materials and facilities. In this Trial Class activity, children are invited to learn and play together. The subject matter given is also fun, that is Science chapter animals. Here, children are introduced to various kinds of animals that exist on land and in water. After the material is finished, the children are also given games that are still related to the material.
In this parent’s briefing, parents are invited to gather in the IISS hall and we share the information and knowledge about IISS. Starting from the curriculum used, the facilities at this school, and also the administrative information.
Mini-games are closing activities in the IISS Open House series of events. In this event, the children participated in various kinds of fun games such as inserting nails into bottles and also playing puzzles, each child had the opportunity to play and win the game. All the children enjoyed this game and they went home with various gifts.
My name is Gagas Arisandi. I have joined IISS since 2016. I think, in IISS has a good method of teaching the students, by using the fun learning English and small class, we can be more focused on teaching to the whole class. Here we make a good environment to make the students feel comfortable studying. Since I joined IISS, I can develop my English skills and I can develop myself to teach the students. And also, the learning environment really supports me to improve my skills as a teacher. Overall, I love to teach in IISS and I hope that IISS can be the best elementary school in Malang
